BWE Implements Privacy Policy BWE implemented the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) requirements for purpleskirt.com including a review of their existing policies, development of the compact policy for IE6, the complete machine-readable policy (XML), and updates to their existing natural language policy. The w3c (world wide web consortium) has created a new standard called the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P). This standard is designed to enable users to have more control over their privacy preferences. Microsoft has implemented a portion of the w3cs P3P proposal into their Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 browser. The main functionality that has been incorporated allows the browser to check HTTP headers for a P3P Compact Policy (a machine-readable version of their privacy policy). These P3P compact policies are compared with the privacy setting selected by the user to determine whether the cookie should be allowed, blocked or leashed. The privacy setting is accessible via the Internet Options window of the browser.
